Spreading the joy at Christmas

Christmas is a great time here at Strand PR HQ. Whether it’s blasting out the festive tunes, challenging each other to the Great British Sausage Roll-off, or improvising by sitting a frog (yes, a frog) on the top of our tree, we throw ourselves into the festive season.
It also gives us the opportunity to do something we love – helping others.
Throughout the year we support our favourite charities, including PoetsIN and the Rooprai Spinal Trust because we can – and it gives us the warm and fuzzies knowing that these incredible organisations are benefitting from our donations of time or money.
For Christmas this year, we decided we’d rather spend the money we usually spend on client cards and gifts to spread the love among those for whom this time of year isn’t so happy. We contacted the Buntingford Food Bank to see how we could help them raise a smile among the people they support.
Rather than food, the request was for toiletries, something that is often overlooked when donors are being generous with their contributions.
And this week, Gemma Jacobs – who does an incredible job running the food bank – called into our office to pick up over 40 gift sets for men and women.
Our MD, Laura Pearce, said: “It was the right thing to do, especially this year, which has been so hard for so many people. Lovely smellies are such a simple thing, but for some, they are a luxury. We were happy to be able to give even a little bit of cheer.”
Gemma said: “It was so lovely to meet you all and thank you so much for your wonderful donation.”
